ONE MUSEUM, TWO MUSEUM, THREE MUSEUM, FOUR…
The mission of the Four Rivers Historical Alliance is to plan, develop and sustain a collaborative effort among historical societies and related organizations, agencies and communities for the purpose of promoting cultural historic assets and heritage tourism.
We work together toward a common goal of promoting cultural heritage tourism.
We share resources such as speakers, photos, traveling exhibits and strategies for historic preservation and promotion.
We share finances. The Frontier Historical Society, a 501 (c)(3), acts as fiscal agent for the organization.
The group makes site visits to historical assets in each member community to learn about the history of our area.
We aid one another in teaching best practices for structuring a museum or historical society, putting on special events, collections care, creating a non-profit board, digitizing photo collections and much more.
We provide programs and workshops for our members and the general public, on history-related subjects, museum organization, how to care for archival collections and other areas of interest.
We have completed and distributed free cultural heritage tourism maps for visitors.
We cross promote one another’s facilities and events.
We make presentations to local governmental entities about cultural heritage tourism to increase awareness.
We utilize traditional and social media to achieve these goals.
To show the economic benefits of cultural heritage tourism for the region we serve.
To create an effective use of internet, social media and other available technology to promote heritage tourism in our area.
